Proportional hazards assumption check는

"시간에 따라 어떤 변수에서의 hazard ratio가 일정해야 한다

(Each covariate has a multiplicative effect in the hazards function that is CONSTANT OVER TIME)"

는 가정을 만족(satisfy)하는지 확인하는 것이다. 

비례 위험 가정을 충족하지 않는 것을 알아차리지 못하고 Cox 모델에 의한 결과를 도출한다면 그 타당성에 의문이 제기되고, 잘못된 과학적 발견의 출판을 초래할 수 있기 때문에, 비례 위험 가정의 평가가 필수적이다.

1) 1991-2000 한국 상장기업을 두 그룹으로 나눈 뒤
2) COX 비례위험 모형을 적용하여 4개의 재무제표 변수를 공변량으로 하는 모형 구성
3) 모형 추정 후에, 
4) 모형에 포함된 공변량에 대해 비례성 가정이 성립하는지 층화모형으로 검정
5) 검정결과 X1-X3은 괜찮았는데 X4에서 비례성 가정이 위배되는 것을 확인 
6) 그래서 IMF 연도를 기준으로 팔로업 시간을 끊었더니
7) 이전과 이후에서 비례성 가정이 만족됨. (happy)

As we see, if the assumption is violated then;

 

1) ignore if it's small

2) stratification (proc phreg, strata)

3) f/u 시간을 끊어서 분석 <=== which has been the case above

4) include covariate interactions with time as predictors (proc phreg)
